Thank you
In the wake of Hurricane Irene, I’d like to thank all our emergency personnel for a job well done. It was a long week-end and we aren’t done yet, but The Town of Monroe and our three villages, despite our problems, fared better than most communities in Orange County. I would also like to thank the M-W School System, especially Frank Squllante, for opening the high school as a shelter. The Orange County EOC (Emergency Operation Center) provided communication and information to all of us (cities, towns and villages) as they received it. It gave us the chance to hear what other people in the county were experiencing. And thanks to our Pallottine Sisters for assisting with housing of some seriously handicapped individuals. There was tremendous co-operation during this emergency and a willingness to help. There are issues to be addressed for the future because we know that we can always do better, but for the most part things went well.
