Why?

Why would a group from Kiryas Joel bother to vote for any candidate in the last Town election? I know that independent decisions are frowned upon. The bloc vote is always granted for a reason.
It seems impossible that two council positions would receive the exact same number of votes and the supervisor position received forty-four votes more than the council positions without backing by a bloc.
The numbers used come from the published election results from the Districts in Kiryas Joel.
I do know that the Alliance is heavily invested in two current lawsuits against the Town of Monroe. One case is still before the Supreme Court about the 507-acre annexation petition and the second case is in federal court claiming discrimination against the town.
Is it possible the Alliance is willing to barter the cessation of these two suits in order to obtain favorable zoning for the projects they are trying to develop along the Rye Hill Corridor?
The problem the new council faces is that they passed a more stringent zoning in the Comprehensive Plan. The new board will have a tough time explaining why they would be willing to give up the stricter zoning to settle two lawsuits.
I personally believe that some concessions were made in the new zoning which turned out not to be what the Alliance signed on for.
Another interesting fact is that Mr. Cardone and Mr. McGinn still refuse to acknowledge that they were put in office because of the bloc vote in 2015.
Washington has its swamp to contend with and we have our own political cesspool.
