John Karl announces candidacy for Village of Monroe mayor

| 15 Feb 2018 | 04:36

My name is John M. Karl III and I am running for mayor in the March 20 Village of Monroe elections.
I am a lifelong resident of Monroe and have been involved for many years in my hometown. I have been involved in both village and town governments as well as a 40-year active member of the Mombasha Fire Co./Monroe Fire Department where I have held the position of chief as well as civil offices. I am a life member and still respond to calls.
I had the privilege to have held the mayor's seat from 2006-2010 and helped accomplish the reestablishment of a village court system, worked with four municipalities to bring about a Joint Fire District and eliminated health benefits for elected officials that has saved valuable tax dollars.
I am an active 20-year member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097, supporter of Orange & Sullivan Hospice, member of Sacred Heart Church, exempt member Monroe Volunteer Ambulance, past president Orange County Volunteer Firemen's Association, member Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association and former village trustee.
I am in my 17th year serving on the Town of Monroe Republican Committee and retired in 2014 as DPW Superintendent in the Village of Harriman.
I am running on the Concerned Citizens Party and have been attending village board meetings for many years. I will be bringing my platform and ideas for the next four years out in the weeks to come.
I encourage all to attend your local meetings or go to Village of Monroe website and read the board minutes to know what is going on in our village.
    Thank you.
    John M. Karl III
