Theresa Budich offered this comment to a story in last week’s Photo News about a Monroe-Woodbury High School graduate fighting a rare form of cancer:

My heart goes out to this young man. My husband and my son both had leukemia and lymphoma. And as a family we were subjected to the cancerous substances that were released from Nepera Chemical. The plant closed in 2005, but I believe we are still suffering from the results of those toxins. Both Leukemia and Lymphoma along with Thyroid cancer rates are much higher in the Central Valley and many parts of Harriman and Monroe.
