Monroe - Monroe Cub Scout Pack 488 raced their wooden, hand-crafted cars down a Pinewood Derby track at American Legion Post 488 on Lakes Road in late February. A packed-room of family and friends cheered them on. The track was lighting fast with an electronic finish line keeping track of time and speed on all three lanes. Competition was fierce but the scouts showed true sportsmanship and finished the day in great spirits. At this year’s Derby, Weeblo James Woodley triumphed in first place, Bear Joseph Skowronski took second and Tiger Thomas Felmley finished third. The families and scouts of Pack 488 would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous donations which made the event such a success: American Legion Post 488; Bagel World; Big Mike’s Pizza, which donated 10 pizza pies; BJ’s Wholesale Club; Dunkin Donuts on 141 State Route 17M in Central Valley; ShopRite; Stop & Shop and Wal-Mart.
