MONROE - It may have been pouring rain on Sunday, but the luck of the Irish helped by not deterring more than 200 people from attending the 48th annual corned beef dinner, hosted by the Monroe Knights of Columbus Council 2079 and the Sacred Heart Parish’s Holy Name Society. More than 250 pounds of corned beef and 150 pounds of cabbage were served during the evening. With music by provided Jerry Sherman and Moondance, as well as an appearance by the Orange County AOH pipe and drum band and local Irish step dancers, the event raised money to support the Knights’ community work and the activities of the Holy Name Society.
