    The OC Smash 7U travel team hit the road on May 25 to compete in the USABL Memorial Day Tournament in Marlboro, N.J.

    For a majority of the 6 and 7 year-old players, the games would be their first experience playing in a travel baseball game or tournament.
    The team's first game against the Manalapan Braves was a 12-8 loss.
    In the second game of the tournament, needing a victory to advance to the championship, the 7U OC Smash team defeated the Monroe Falcons 15-2, setting the stage for a rematch with the Manalapan Braves.
    The championship game was hard fought with the team pulling out a solid 10-4 win.
    All of the coaches and players on the team played a part in the championship. Well done, Little Smashers.
    Bergen County Charity Classic
    Over Memorial Day weekend, the 9U team participated in the Bergen County Charity Classic and won its Division in pool play with a 3-0 record, winning 15-7 over the Westchester Generals, 7-6 over the Wayne Valley Warriors and 8-0 over the Franklin Lakes War Eagles.
    The team made it to the semi-finals, falling to Bayonne Cal Ripken but completed the tournament third out of 16 teams for a great weekend of baseball.
    Family Fun Day at Rockland Boulders Stadium
    On week later, on Saturday June 1, the Orange County Smash program attended the Rockland Boulders game as part of the programs annual Family Fun Day. The players for the OC Smash competed on Boulders field in a baseball game, a skills competitions and in a home run derby. The excitement on the players faces was priceless.
    Essentials
    The program is celebrating its second anniversary in July and plans to continue to focus on the development of it players in a fun atmosphere to promote a passion and love for the game.
