Monroe-Woodbury Girls XC team finished fourth at NYS Championship

KINGS PARK — The Monroe-Woodbury Girls Cross Country team placed fourth in Class A and fifth among all public schools at the NYSPHAA championship meet held at Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Saratoga Springs beat 12-time champion Fayetteville-Manlius by one point.
North Rockland took earned the third place team title led by race winner Katleyn Touhy.
Jessica Pidgeon and Racher Hirschkind led Monroe-Woodbury, placing 28th and 32nd overall.
The girls team will race next on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls at the NYS Federation meet which combines public, Catholic, NYC PSAL and private schools.
Results• Jessica Pidgeon finish 28th in a time of 19:38.10
• Rachel Hirschkind finished 32nd in a time of 19:47.50
• Evelyn Gonzalez-Valle finished 47th in a time of 20:17.90
• Ella DePhillips finished 51st in a time of 20:22.70
• Daniella Napoli finished 54th in a time of 20:27.00
• Allison Nolan finished 67th in a time of 20:45.90
• Sarah Kern finished 85th in a time of 21:13.90
In the Boys Class A race, Andrew Yi place 37th in 16:58.60 and Daniel Hynes was 59th in 17:25.50.
Andrew qualified to participate in the NYS Federation meet next week.
