M-W Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country teams finish first in Crusader Classic meet

CENTRAL VALLEY — On a warm Saturday morning, Sept. 23, the Crusaders hosted their annual Crusader Classic Cross Country meet at Monroe-Woodbury High School. Here is a summary of the results:
Boys• The boys varsity team finished first in the 17-team field with 46 points. Crusader Mike Hannon took first place in the varsity race against a field of 126 runners with a time of 16:54.75.
Also finishing in the top ten for the Crusaders were Trevor Ladue (sixth place) and Andrew Yi (eighth place).
• The boys JV team fished third in a 12-team field with 86 points. The top Crusader JV finisher was Will Fuchs, who came in eleventh place with a time of 19:39.19 against 153 runners.
• The boys freshman team came in first against a field of nine teams with 37 points. Crusader Keith Allen came in first with a time of 9:34.82 against a field of 93 runners on the shortened freshman course.
Also finishing in the top ten in the freshman race were Tyler Anderson (third), Nicholas Howell (seventh) and Brian Whitfield eighth.
Girls • The Crusaders Girls Varsity Team took first place in the 11-team field with 38 points. Crusader Jessica Pidgeon’s time of 19:58.59 beat the field of 85 runners.
Also finishing in the top ten for the Crusaders were Julia Hoyt (fourth) and Sarah Kern (eighth).
• The JV team took first place with a 35 against a field of five teams. Emma Cohen was the top Crusader finisher in the race; her time of 23:35.97 was good for fourth place in the field of 75 runners.
Also fishing in the top 10 were Abby Howell (sixth), Angela Iaccarino (seventh) and Erin Cytryn (ninth).
• The girls freshman team scored 90 points to place fourth in the field of six teams. Emily Jibb finished sixth with a time of 11:59.30 to lead all Crusader cross-country ninth-grader runners.
