Tuxedo Park — Deborah Roffman, a nationally certified sexuality and family life educator, will present: “Yes You Can! Raise Sexually Healthy Children in a Sexually Unhealthy Culture,” at Tuxedo Park School in Tuxedo Park on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is open to the public. Organizers said parents of children all ages often struggle with the best way to listen, talk, and behave with their children when it comes to the topic of sex, especially considering the unhealthy sexual messages and societal pressures. Roffman will give parents the confidence, language, and approach they need to handle this topic so that their children can make healthy and wise choices for themselves. Roffman has provided training and consultation regarding curriculum, faculty development, and parent education to scores of public and private schools for over 30 years. She has written numerous articles and two books: “Sex and Sensibility: The Thinking Parent’s Guide to Talking Sense about Sex” and “But How Did I Get in There in the First Place?: The Thinking Parent’s Guide to Talking to Young Children about Sex.” For more information or directions, please call 351-4737.
