Party City expands into Monroe

Monroe - Party City, America’s largest discount party supplies and Halloween retailer, has opened a new store in Harriman Commons off Larkin Drive in Monroe. The Monroe store opened its doors on Sept. 17, just prior to Party City’s busiest time of the year. Halloween costume sales account for a major portion of Party City’s annual business, and Party City has hired more than 10,000 temporary workers nationwide to serve as customer support representatives, greeters, cashiers, stockers, and in other roles. Many of these workers will be retained beyond the Halloween season. “The creation of new jobs is critical as the economy continues to recover,” said Lisa Laube, president of Party City, in a press release distributed by dBusinessNews.com. “Our efforts to create jobs serve a dual-purpose: To provide people with opportunities to utilize their skills in today’s downtrodden job market, and to provide shoppers with exceptional customer service during the busy Halloween season.” Since Sept. 1, Party City has also placed new stores Texas, Illinois and Indiana.
