Jim Ebner, the chief of Monroe Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company, turns over the final check for the company’s new fire truck to Rick Lambasi Sr. of Seagrave Fire Apparatus, the oldest continuous manufacturer of fire apparatus in North America. The vehicle, which cost $510,213, is shown at the Lakeside Firehouse late in the afternoon on July 23. The new truck is the first apparatus to have the “Monroe Fire District” name on it. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2011, Monroe’s three fire companies - Lakeside, Harriman and Mombasha - will operate jointly as the Monroe Fire District.
