Your Christmas tree awaits at an Orange County farm

Shopping for the perfect tree is a special tradition for families — and many head to Orange County, home to more than 20 tree farms. Orange County boasts thousands of acres of fresh trees ready to be cut.
Visitors can warm up with hot chocolate while shopping for wreaths and decorations to deck the halls.
“A visit to our tree farms is a wonderful adventure,” said Orange County Tourism Director Susan Hawvermale. “The fragrance of fresh pine in the crisp air and all the activities for kids creates Christmas memories for a lifetime.”
Visitors can either cut their own tree or choose from the farm’s selection at their stands. Tree farms include:
Edward’s Tree Farm: Choose from precut trees or cut your own, all grown on the local farm. Open Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through Dec. 17. At 77 Amity Road, Warwick. 258-4344
Emmerich Tree Farm: Choose and cut spruce, pine, and fir situated on a beautiful south-facing hillside. Freshly cut Fraser firs are also available. Free parking, wagon rides to the field, music, bonfire, and free hot chocolate. 10 Sleepy Valley Road, Warwick. emmerichtreefarm.com
Graney Tree Farm: Choose and cut your own blue spruce tree and shop from an assortment of balsam wreaths. Open weekends through Christmas Eve, 9 a.m. to dusk. 24 Lang Drive, Pine Bush. 361-3022

Sumner’s Wintergreen Tree Farm: Choose and cut your own tree from a selection blue spruce, white spruce, scotch pine, white pine, Douglas fir and Fraser fir. Free treats available for kids. Open weekends in December, 10 a.m. to dusk. 123 Brola Road, Middletown. 800-3018.
