Yena Lee wins first ‘Scholar Musician Flute Grant’

Monroe-Woodbury High School Senior Yena Lee is the recipient of the first ‘Scholar Musician Flute Grant' from the North Bridge Instrument Co. Renowned flute manufacturer Chris McKenna personally hand-made Lee’s headjoint. McKenna is the founder of Gem Headjoints, Inc., and co-founder of Weissman-McKenna Piccolos. After having been made aware of Lee’s many musical accomplishments during Monroe-Woodbury muscial career, McKenna and North Bridge decided to launch this grant program. Lee performed in the role of principal flute earlier this school year at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in Rochester, and will performing at the NAfME All-Eastern Conference on April 7 in Pittsburgh. Lee studies flute with Merryl Newler, and is principal flute in the Monroe-High School Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Richard Regan.
