Five Tuxedo Union Free School District senior female-student athletes, along with their guidance counselor, Christine Oliva, joined other students who attended an event held Sept. 20 at Monroe-Woodbury High School to increase awareness of ovarian cancer. Seven-time Olympic Gold Medalist gymnast and ovarian cancer survivor Shannon Miller visited school as part of an event designed to increase awareness of ovarian cancer. Approximately 700 female student-athletes from Section IX schools attended the presentation sponsored by the Corinne Feller Memorial Fund. The event featured an informational video sharing former Valley Central scholar-athlete Corinne Feller’s battle with ovarian cancer and featuring an oncologist from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Pictured from left to right, here are the Tuxedo students and staff who attended the program: Gianna Mazzilli, Kiera Costello, Christine Oliva, Shannon Miller, Caitlin Stillo, Ashley Scanlon and Heidi Willins.
