MONROE — The South Orange Family YMCA will host its annual community holiday party, "An Afternoon with Santa," Saturday, Dec. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Y on the Gilbert Street Extension in Monroe.
"It's getting close to Christmas and we're inviting everyone to spend an afternoon with Santa, create crafts, have some fun dressing up for photos in our holiday booth and have some fun," said Y Branch Executive Director Ross Miceli, who vowed to dress festively. "Our Y staff loves events like this. It's just another way of reinforcing the important sense of community we have and why we're so proud to be a part of this community."
The Y's community parties are wildly popular. Its most recent Halloween party had more than 600 people attending.
Organizers encouraged guests to bring an unwrapped toy for the Y's annual toy drive to the party.
"This party is also more than just having fun, we want to remember those who are less fortunate and help provide needy children with Christmas presents," added Miceli. "Your unwrapped toys will put a smile on the faces of so many children."
