'Out of the Park' dinner raises $26,000 for Beautiful People

— The ninth annual “Out of the Park” dinner at the Falkirk Estate on Sept. 15 was a big success, raising more than $26,000 for non-profit Beautiful People, Orange County’s Miracle League.
A highlight was the coveted baseball athlete of the year award, created as a memorial award for Georgene Ladka, founder Peter Ladka’s mother. Warwick’s Hannah Santuro, an athlete with the organization since 2010, won the award.
Organizations recognized for their effortsSeveral local organizations and individuals were honored for their generosity for adaptive sports programs and for the build-out of an accessible ball field in Warwick’s Wickham Woodlands, planned for opening for spring baseball season 2018.
The team of HV Light It Up Blue received Beautiful People’s Generous Spirit Award.
Erin Pascual, Mike Moreno, and Pedro Garcia lead a non-profit focused on Autism Awareness. More than 65 percent of Beautiful People athletes with special needs are children and young adults on the Autism spectrum of disorders.
The Light It Up Blue annual event raised nearly $12,000 for the Miracle League safe surface field to be named the Daniel Fratto Memorial Field.
Johnstons Subaru tops the list of financial help for the Miracle League field fund.
Subaru’s national program, Share the Love, made it possible for Johnston’s team to accumulate a total donation of $41,000 from new car sales and leases during a promotional period November thru January 2017.
Further, the dealership has committed to repeat the promotion on behalf of Beautiful People again this fall.
Johnstons team led by Steve Jardine were recipients of the Daniel Fratto Memorial Award.
Essential informationThe Beautiful People Soccer season began Sept. 9 and runs Saturdays 10 to 11 a.m. am through the end of October.
The season is hosted at the Middletown High School.
New participants are welcomed, ages 5 and up, and volunteers age 12 and up are needed.
