MONROE — The 21st consecutive Monroe CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22, with registration at 2 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church at 47 Maple Ave.
The 1.5 mile walk around the Millponds starts at 2:30 p.m.
"We raise money and awareness about hunger and invite groups and individuals to join with us in common cause to work on solving hunger, both worldwide and locally," said Monroe CROP Walk organizer Fred Schuepfer. "We walk because they walk - for food, water and shelter."
Twenty-five percent of the money raised at the walk will go to support the following local food pantries: Monroe Community Food Pantry, Monroe Presbyterian Food Pantry, Highland Mills Food Pantry, Washingtonville Food Pantry (Country Kids) and Chester Food Pantry.
This year, the Chester Kiwanis Club and the Monroe Woodbury Islamic Center also are participating.
