Leandra Tejedor honored by Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson

PLEASANTVILLE — Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson marked Girl Scout Week, a week commemorating the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia, with a celebratory Leadership Luncheon.
At this luncheon, Leandra Tejedor, a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School and Ramapo College, was awarded the fourth annual Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson’s Juliette Gordon Low Leadership Award.
An exceptional leaderThe Juliette Gordon Low Leadership Award was created to honor a Girl Scout alumna between the ages of 21 and 35 who has distinguished herself as an exceptional leader in her chosen profession or through volunteer work in her community.
In 2009, Tejedor earned Gold Award, and her project became her life’s work. She believes it is important for educators to understand how young people use technology and why.
At the age of 23, Tejedor co-founded VidCode, which provides engaging computer programming curriculum and learning environments to middle and high school students, 62 percent of which are girls.
Currently VidCode partners with New York City Department of Education.
'30 for 30'Tejedor was also one of Forbes' "30 Under 30 in Education" in 2017.
