MONROE — It's the time of year when people are moved to get beyond themselves do for others. Here are two recent examples:
• The Monroe-Woodbury High School Crusading for Wishes Club recently participated in Macy’s Believe Campaign to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
For every letter to Santa received, Macy's will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses.
More than 2,700 letters were collected by Monroe-Woodbury students in support of this campaign.
• Meanwhile, Town of Monroe employees gathered on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Captain’s Table in Monroe for a holiday celebration.
"It was a joyous gathering of our employees and a wonderful chance to not only celebrate the holiday season, but to raise money for two amazing nonprofit organizations, HarperSmiles and Hospice of Orange County," Monroe Town Supervisor Tony Cardone said. "Through the generosity of our employees, nearly $800 was raised.
"A special thank you to the Town Clerk’s office for organizing this festive evening," Cardone added. "We are proud of our employees and are fortunate to work with such a wonderful group of individuals."
