Get hooked on fishing

SLATE HILL — The Orange County Land Trust will host a children's fishing program on Saturday, April 21, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at its Hunter Farm Preserve in Slate Hill, where young anglers can practice catch and release fishing on the ponds while also learning how to be good stewards of the lands and waters.
As fish are reeled in, Land Trust staff members and volunteers will help identify and document the species of fish as part of an informal survey.
The results of the day’s catch will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
The essentials• The program, Hooked on Fishing, is recommended for children aged 5 years and older.
• Fishing equipment will not be provided so please bring your own gear.
• A valid N.Y.S. Fishing License is required for anyone fishing. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• A donation of $5 per person or $10 family is suggested to support Orange County Land Trust's efforts to conserve the county's wildlife habitats, watershed lands and working farms.
