Free community field day in Monroe is tomorrow

MONROE — The South Orange Family YMCA, in conjunction with the Village of Monroe, is organizing a community picnic and free field day along the millponds tomorrow, June 30, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a disc jockey will provide music and a bounce house for the kids will be available.

The day’s schedule also includes:

11 to 11:15 a.m.: Soccer 12 to 12:15 p.m. : Additional soccer

11:30 to 12 p.m.: Zumba 12:30 to 1 p.m.: Additional Zumba

12:15 to 12:30 p.m.: Relay 12:30 to 12:45 p.m.: Frisbee throw

1 to 1:15 p.m.: 40-yard dash 1:30 to 1:45 p.m.: Potato sack race

2 to 2:15 p.m.: Tug-o-war competition

2:15 to 2:30 p.m.: Egg Spoon Participants are encouraged to bring picnic lunches to the event. Ice cream, hot dogs and snacks will on sale.

There is no admission charge to any of these and everyone - including groups - is welcome to attend, according to organizers.

“This is going to be a great day for families who are looking for some free activities and just want to have some fun,” said Y Branch Director Ross Miceli. “It’s something to do on a summer day. Families, groups and individuals are welcome. We hope to see a lot of people.”

Anyone who signs up for an individual or family membership will have their enrollment fee waived on that day.
