Employee charged with drug possession

    Monroe - Village Police were dispatched Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 16, to a local business on the report of an employee possibly suffering from a medical emergency. When they arrived, officers found Kimberly Tonnessen, 19, of Greenwood Lake apparently under the influence of a narcotic, police said. Monroe Det. James Frankild said officers discovered heroin, syringes and the prescription medication Xanax, which she did not have prescribed, when they searched her. Frankild also said police found items in her purse that were stolen from the business. Tonnessen was arrested and brought back to Monroe Police Headquarters for processing. She was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and petit larceny. She was released on $250 cash bail for a future court appearance in Monroe Village Court.
