Elaine McClung named SUNY Orange's health services coordinator

MIDDLETOWN - Elaine McClung of Goshen was recently named SUNY Orange’s coordinator of health services. McClung will oversee health and wellness programs for more than 6,500 students as well as faculty and staff members. She will also be asked to organize outreach initiatives that focus on health awareness and education. A registered nurse, McClung is a graduate of the Grace-New Haven School of Nursing and holds a master’s degree in health services administration from the New School University’s Milano Graduate School for Management and Urban Policy. McClung worked as head nurse and coordinating charge nurse of the emergency department at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn., before taking time off from nursing to raise her three sons. During her hiatus, she earned an associate’s degree in business management from SUNY Orange in 1990. While at SUNY Orange, she received the college’s Business Management Award and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She spent time as a substitute nurse at the college, as well as in the Goshen Central School District, before working full time in the Goshen district. She was named campus nurse at the college four years ago. She has coached Goshen’s varsity tennis teams since 1990. McClung is a past president of the Orange Municipal Planning Federation and is a former member of the Goshen Central School District’s Growth Task Force. She has held numerous roles within the American Heart Association’s Orange-Rockland-Sullivan region, including serving as president, chairing the Emergency Cardiac Care Committee and serving as a representative to the organization’s New York State Board of Directors. McClung was also a founding board member of People for People.
