MONROE — Boaters and fishermen who use the dock and dock house along Lakes Road and across the street from American Legion Post 488 will find them to be repaired and revitalized as a result of a recently completed Eagle Scout project. Michael O’Neill, a Monroe resident and member of Boy Scout Troop 440, led the team effort to build the new dock, paint the dock house, repair and clean up the fence area and install new landscaping. His project took 294 hours to complete with the support of friends, family, scouts and local businesses. “A big thanks to Mr. Dauenheimer for his skills and willingness to help me build the dock,” said O’Neill. “Thanks to Mr. Currid for being so patient with me throughout the time. He was always there to answer questions. Thanks to Mr. Rendano, my scout master, for guiding me throughout the years of scouting. I am very grateful to the American Legion Post 488 for allowing me the opportunity to give back to the community.” O’Neill also acknowledged Protection Fence of Chester, Home Depot of Monroe and Lowe’s in Chester for their generosity. - Nancy Kriz
