Dance scholarship offered in memory of ‘Ms. Eileen’

MONROE — The Eileen Slawinski Memorial Dance Scholarship will be available for student for the upcoming 2012-13 school year, the Orange County School of Dance has announced.

“Ms. Eileen” taught at the school from 2002-2012; she passed away on Jan. 7, 2012 after a short illness.

Slawinski was involved in all aspects of the school from teaching, choreographing for “Little Feet Dance Company, assisting with the art gallery, backstage manager for performances and being a beloved friend of the school’s director Joanna Markowitz, according to the press release announcing the scholarship.

An audition for the scholarship will be held in June; interested applicants should be between 9 and 18 years of age and should also write an essay as to why they love to dance.
