Awards and other honors Vincent Dapolito of Harriman, who is completing his junior year at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., is the recipient of the Mark of Excellence Award, which is presented annually by the Society of Professional Journalists in recognition of the best in student journalism. The awards offer categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. Dapolito received his award for Television sports reporting for his piece entitled, “Hamden Football’s Miserable Season.” The following students were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma at Binghamton University, State University of New York. Phi Eta Sigma is the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year students: Daniel Trebach of Highland Mills and Jeanne-Marie Zonneveld of Monroe Dean’s list Cody Grech of Blooming Grove was named to the dean’s list for the winter quarter at the Rochester Institute of Technology. A second-year student in RIT’s college of Imaging Arts and Science, Grech is studying new media publishing. He is the son of Avory and Frances Grech and a 2009 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School. The dean’s list at RIT consists of students who have obtained a grade point average of 3.4 or above, with no grades below a C for the quarter.
