MONROE - Building inspector Jay Wilkins is asking property owners to clear their decks of snow. “They are usually built to withstand a normal weight of snow,” he said, “but not excessive like we have been having.” “I would rather be safe than sorry,” Wilkins added, noting how hundreds of properties in Connecticut have been damaged from the weight of snow. Wilkins said homeowners can call him at 783-8656. While he cannot have a property cleared, he will inspect the home to determine if there is a danger of collapse. In other building inspector business, the village building inspector said village officials have sent letters to every homeowner in the village regarding the new rental property law. “We hope people will cooperate and return the completed forms.” - Claudia Wysocki
