Willard P. 'Dick' Owens

    Willard P. “Dick” Owens of Monroe passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He was 74 years old.
    The son of William P. and Marjorie M. Boswell Owens, he was born May 17, 1943, in Hampton, Va.
    Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran - a Tin Can Sailor - who proudly served aboard the USS Perry.
    He also was a retired technician with Lucent Technology in New York City.
    Many of Dick’s most cherished memories were spent on a ball field. Be it pitching every Sunday morning for the Woodbury Men’s League or on the sidelines of countless games for his children and grandchildren, Dick could always be found alongside his wife Mary Ann.
    Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann Healy Owens, at home; his sons: Chris Owens and his fiancée Barbara Murphy of Westtown, Brendan Owens of Sparkill and Richie Owens and his fiancée Sarah Worden of Middletown; his daughters: Dawn A. McCoy of Monroe and Noreen Condon and her husband Thomas of Fort Mill, S.C.; his brother Billy Owens of Port Richey, Fla.; his sister Judy Owens of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his nine grandchildren: ChristyAnn, Tara, Patrick, Tommy, Kieran, Riley, Sean, Devyn and Dylan.
    Dick was predeceased by his brother Robert Owens and son-in-law Richard G. McCoy.
    Visitation was held Oct. 9 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
    A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 10 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe.
    Interment followed in Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
