Virginia N. Lafferty

Virginia “Ginny” N. Lafferty of Monroe passed away with her husband by her side on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Garnet Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. She was 79 years old.

The daughter of Edward and Norma Carroll Krauss, Ginny was born on Nov. 9, 1941, in the Bronx.

Ginny graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan. After graduating, she worked at the Dollar Savings Bank on Fordham Road where she met the love of her life, John. They started a family and moved to Monroe, where she resided for the remainder of her life. She retired from Middletown Savings Bank as a Vice President.

Ginny was a member of St. Anastasia Church in Harriman.

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, John T. Lafferty, at home, her children: Daniel Lafferty and his wife Bernadette of West Islip, and Kerry Dougherty and her husband Liam of Monroe; her brothers: Daniel Krauss and his wife Margie of Middletown, and Edward Krauss and his wife Denise of Middletown; her adoring grandchildren: Brooke, Shannon, Abigail, Bridget, Jillian and Patrick, along with several nieces and nephews, and her beloved Granddogs, Buddy and Buster. Ginny was also a “Surrogate Mom” to John, Andrei and Larry.

Ginny was predeceased by her beloved son, Patrick J. Lafferty.

Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed being their “Fairy Godmother” and always inspiring their dreams and making their wishes come true.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, from 5 to 8 p.m.at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Anastasia Church, 21 N. Main St., Harriman.

Interment will follow at St. Anastasia Cemetery.
