George Pedersen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. at home in Highland Mills. He was 73 years old.
Born Oct. 26, 1944, to Inger and George Pedersen in Brooklyn, he worked in the telecommunication industry for 36 years for companies such as AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Verizon Communications.
He was a chief steward for the Communication Workers of America Local 1107, a past member of the Woodbury Zoning Board, Woodbury Community Association and avidly participated in town politics for the Conservative Party.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann L. Pedersen; three sons, Kurt Pedersen and his wife Debbie of Central Valley, Erik Pedersen, and Leif Pedersen and Tracy of Bayville, N.J.; two sisters: Ruth Nicholson of Suffern and Marilyn Uleberg of Monroe: two grandsons: William Pedersen and Luke Pedersen; one granddaughter. Valerie Pedersen; and many loving nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his sisters: Solveig, Sonya, Helen, Carol and Linda.
George will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held March 13 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. in Highland Mills. A chapel service was also held that evening.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
