Frederick D. 'Fred' Kronk

    Frederick D. “Fred” Kronk, lifetime area resident, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Sapphire @ Goshen. He was 84.
    The son of the Margaret Lowe Kronk and Fred Kronk, he was born in Monroe on Jan. 27, 1933.
    Fred was a retired custodian for the Monroe-Woodbury School District in Central Valley and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.
    He was a lover of history and was an active member of the Chester, Town of Woodbury and Monroe Historical societies.
    He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Kathy Furlong and husband Dan of Ironia, N.J.; Barbara Long and husband Tom of Penfield; Vincent Olmstead and wife Keene of Waterford; John Olmstead and wife Martha of Laurinburg, N.C.; Nancy Gehler and husband John of Walden; Tom Smogur and wife Joyce of Universal City, Texas; and Richard Smogur and wife Ellen of Rockvale, Tenn.; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
    Visitation was held Sept. 27 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
    A funeral service followed in the funeral home. Interment was in Monroe Cemetery, Route 17M, Monroe.
