Donald Andrew Burns of Harriman died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, peacefully at his home. He was 77.
Donald was born July 21, 1940, in the Bronx, the son of Frank and Joan (Dobias) Burns.
He was married to the love of his life for 54 years, They had a unique love for each other and never liked to be too far from one another.
He was a devoted husband and a wonderful father to his two children. Donnie and Jodi. He had so much love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always actively involved in whatever they had going on, from football games to Irish step competitions to baseball games and award dinners. Whatever was going on in their lives he was there to share in all of it with them. He had such a strong bond with both his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his life. He did anything and everything he could to keep a smile on the people he loved and cared for. He was truly a great person to so many who loved him.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran and worked for Acura, Middletown, as a service writer. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy C. Burns, at home; son Donald W. Burns and his wife Patricia of Little Ferry, N.J.; daughter Jodi M. LaBelle and her husband John of Greeley, Pa.; brother Frank Burns and wife Elaine of Louville; sister Judith Law and husband Richard of Arizona; five grandchildren: John Andrew and wife Jessica Carrigan; Jessica Lynn and Jake Thomas LaBelle; Sean Patrick and Shannon Burns; two great grand children: John Andrew Jr. and Jordyn Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Helen Lellek.
Visitation was held October 10 at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., in Goshen.
Burial will be at a later date in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
