    Charles K. “Charlie” Lang, longtime area resident, passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017. He was 81.
    The son of Charles E. Lang and Elsie Muller Lang, he was born in Nyack on July 6, 1936.
    Charlie was a self-employed Contractor/Landlord in Monroe. He designed and built his first family home at the age of 23. He was a member, past president and avid parade participant in the Mombasha Fire Company in Monroe and a member of the Empire Hook & Ladder Company in Nyack.
    During his free time, Charlie thrilled his family and friends with excursions in his vintage Cessna 172 plane.
    He loved reunions and celebrations with his family, dinner dances with friends and breakfast bagels with his buddies. Charlie chose to spend his last days at home being cared for by his family under the guidance of his loving daughter Marie.
    He is survived by his sons Charles E. Lang of Middletown; Timothy Lang of Burlington, Vt.; his daughters, Eileen Hull and husband Hayward of Herndon, Va.; Marie Lang of Burnsville, N.C.; Kathy Grassi and husband Mike of Shokan; and Janet Barrett of Scarborough, Me; his brothers Robert of Schoharie; James of Lake Worth, Fla., and John of Cresskill, N.J.; his sisters, Anne Dolson of Collinsville Conn.; Catherine Rice of Hampstead, N.C.; and Margaret Belanger of Sugar Hill, Ga.; 14 grandchildren: Christopher, Pam, Jessica, Maryanne, Amber, Noah, Garett, Maura, Katrina, Trevor, Benjamin, Chelsea, Sam and Gregory; seven great-great grandchildren: Jana, Trinity, Daniel, Kira, Hunter, Nora & Abigail.
    Visitation and Firematic Services were held Oct. 26 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe,
    A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 27 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe.
    Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
