Ann Marie Dwyer

    Ann Marie Dwyer of Washingtonville died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at 90 years of age. Born in Manhattan in 1929, Ann was the daughter of Thomas and Helen Norton.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Dwyer.

    Ann is survived by her children: Maureen Dwyer Peterson and her husband James, and her son Robert Dwyer, both of Washingtonville; her brother Patrick Norton and his wife Carol and her sister Helen Costello; her grandchildren: Kristin Damle (Ajay), Molly Iafrate (Mario), Sean Peterson and Bradley Peterson; her great-grandchildren: Annabelle and Nieve Damle and Cristiano Iafrate; her sister-in-law Marie Dwyer; and many nephews and nieces who she deeply adored. In addition to her husband, Ann was also predeceased by her siblings Michael, James, Thomas and John Norton.

    Her family's statement reads: “The most important thing to Ann was her family. She was loving, funny, a good listener, quite a character and one tough cookie! She was also always the life of the party and could dance the night away. Her favorite hobby was to shop, and she never forgot her coupons. Ann’s biggest joys in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was simply the best and we will miss her forever.”

    Visitation was held Feb. 9 at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. located at 139 Stage Road in Monroe.

    A Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 10 at St. Mary’s Church located at 42 Goshen Ave. in Washingtonville.

    Burial followed at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, located at 2 Father Tierney Circle in Washingtonville.

    Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
