Mary Elizabeth O’Dell

Mary “Liz” Elizabeth O’Dell of Forestburgh died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Newburgh with her family by her side. She was 75.

Daughter of the late John and the late Mary Bishko Petrosky, she was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Tuxedo.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Roger C. O’Dell, at home; one son, Keith O’Dell and his wife, Sue; one daughter, Dawn O’Dell; a grandson Keith O’Dell Jr.; one sister, Madeline Dowling of Tuxedo; nephews, Richard and David Dowling; niece, Cynthia Dowling; sisters-in-law, Ethel Zebron and Priscilla Baker; brother-in-law, Bradley O’Dell; in addition to several other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother John and her sister Anna Petrosky.

She was an entrepreneur, doing a variety of various home sales and later owning her own wicker business in Port Jervis and Sugar Loaf. She was involved in the civic and taxpayer associations in Forestburgh and worked the polls each election year. She enjoyed many adventures later in life with both the Tuxedo Seniors and Forestburgh Seniors.

Visitation was held at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis on Feb. 16. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 17 at Our Lady Mt. Carmel in Tuxedo, with Father Joseph Emmanuel officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Cemetery, Forestburgh.
