Inductions SUNY Orange students Kathryn Miller was among 59 students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa during ceremonies in Albany hosted by State University of New York Chancellor Dr. Nancy Zimpher and New York Community College Trustees Association President Mary A. Adams. Miller is among the newest members of the international honor society that recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. Members must have a GPA of between 3.25 and 4.0 and must sustain high academic standing throughout their two-year enrollment. In addition, members have very strong records of service to the campus or greater community. Miller, of Warwick, will graduate from SUNY Orange in May with a degree in liberal arts. An Honors Student and member of the College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Miller is already enrolled full-time at Ithaca College this semester while simultaneously completing her Honors Capstone project at SUNY Orange. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education. Dean’s list Raafay Syed of Warwick was named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall 2009 semester at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. To qualify, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale in a program of at least 14 credits with at least 12 graded credits. Syed is the son of Khalid and Naureen Syed and attended Warwick Valley High School. A philosophy major, Syed will graduate in May 2012.
