Woodbury Public Library announces its programs for adults this March

    HIGHLAND MILLS — The following is a list of events and programs available at the Woodbury Public Library during March:
    Student Loan Answers
    Financial aid workshop with Melisa Boutin, certified financial education instructor, on Saturday, March 3, 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center (adjacent to the Highland Mills branch of the library).
    Loan applications will be due in April; learn how to successfully submit and repay your loans.
    Boutin will share info with student loan borrowers on navigating the muddled college financing process, using real life examples of lender mishaps and how to avoid them, and strategies she used to cut her own repayment by two years while reducing her loan costs by thousands.
    Students and parents welcomed; in-room day-care will be provided for younger siblings.

    “Bag of Blooms”
    Craft program with Susan Vrana on Tuesday, March 6, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center.
    Vrana will instruct participants in constructing a bright, cheerful hanging to usher in spring. All materials will be provided.
    Limit 12 adult patrons.

    “Nevertheless, She Persisted”
    Program with Madelyn Folino, Black Dirt Storytelling Guild, on Wednesday, March 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
    Celebrate Women’s History Month. Storyteller Madelyn Folino will share the inspiring tales of her female ancestors who prevailed over whatever life threw at them. Be uplifted by these stories of strong women and their triumphs.
    Light refreshments will be served.

    Book Discussion Club
    Wednesday, March 21, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
    The selection for March is “Lilac Girls” by Martha Hall Kelly. Read this moving story of three unsung women in history, whose will to prevail in the face of the incredible turbulence and tribulation of World War II will touch you to the core.
    Copies are available to be checked out at the Highland Mills branch.

    “Dressing It Up”
    Program with Carley Baulick, registered dietitian, ShopRite of Monroe, on Saturday, March 24, 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center.
    Are you looking to spice things up in the kitchen? Baulick will show how you can transform your meals from boring and blah to "ooh and ahh." Learn how to blend spices, create salad dressings and spice rubs, and the health care benefits of particular spices.

    Career Counseling
    Program with Gregg Knowles on Wednesday, March 28, 5 to 8 p.m.
    Book a 60-minute one-on-one session with your own HR expert. Knowles will provide guidance and offer strategies to assist you in furthering your career. Resume assistance, interview techniques, exploring career options, LinkedIn profiles and more – whether you are currently seeking work or looking to make a change. Knowles has more than 25 years of experience in Human Resources.
    If you are unable to make an evening appointment, we will offer weekend daytime sessions in April and adjust days/times to meet the needs of library patrons as the year progresses.
