| 30 Sep 2011 | 09:22

West Point - The Highlands Brass Quintet will present a chamber recital on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. in Egner Hall (West Point Band Building, 685 Hardee Place, West Point) as part of the West Point Band’s Chamber Recital Series, featuring the principal players from the concert band’s brass section. The concert is free and open to the public. Highlands Brass has selected an ambitious program: Highlighting the recital will be Derek Bourgeois’s Sonata for Brass Quintet, a virtuosic three-movement work; Samuel Sheidt’s Variations on a Galliard of Dowland; and an arrangement of selections from Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess.” The performance will close with Fats Waller’s Handful of Keys. Allow extra travel time for vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at gates. Due to changing security requirements at West Point, call the Academy Band’s hotline at 845-938-2617, or check www.westpoint.edu/special before leaving for the concert, as well as for concert information, cancellations and updates.
