hopes to build bridges Iraqi-American artist Najim H. Chechen invites the public to a private tour of the Fine Arts Studio on Mountain Road in Otisville on Saturday, July 31, from 1 to 3 p.m., where the audience can watch a demonstration of how he creates his sculpture. Guests can also create a sculpture of their own to take home. Chechen is interested in getting participants’ views and reactions filmed through his “Art Bridge Film Project.” Learn how he uses his work to build bridges between Americans and Iraqis and to create healing through the arts. Organizers said the goals of the project include “raising people’s consciousness about the power of art to communicate and to generate human compassion for the deprivations of war experienced by ordinary people as well as to foster positive communication between Iraqis and Americans.” Call 386-3305 for more information.
