Native American authority to address the Woodbury Historical Society Dec. 2

HIGHLAND MILLS — What's buried in your back yard?
Perhaps if you look closely, you will find Native American hunting, fishing, cooking, jewelry and hair-adornment artifacts.
Come to the Woodbury Historical Society's annual meeting at the Town of Woodbury Senior Center on Route 105 in Highland Mill at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, to learn more.
Evan Prichard, professor of Native American history at Marist College and a descendant of the Micmac people (part of the Algonquin nations) will be talking about the local Indian tribes that populated this area for thousands of years before Columbus discovered the Americas.
Pritchard is the author of many books, including the widely praised "Native New Yorkers, The Legacy of the Algonquin People of New York."
He has given walking tours of the “Native New York” in lower Manhattan for the Smithsonian Institute, The Open Center, South Street Seaport as well as other institutions and has been on NPR and other radio stations around the country.
The meeting will start with the election of officers and trustees, followed by the professor's presentation.
Refreshments will be served following the talk. Books will be available for purchase for anyone interested.
