Highland Mills — The Jewish Women’s Circle recently held an inspirational evening of song and celebration, featuring a live concert and drum circle. Proceeds of the event will benefit Chabad’s Youth Scholarship fund. The elegant evening was held in the ballroom of Dr. Seth and Nadine Pulver of Highland Mills. Over 60 women from throughout the county attended the event. Shimmering autumn toned tablecloths, sprinkled with fresh rose petals, adorned festive tables with candy-filled glass centerpieces. A special party favor - a silver star of David key ring - awaited each guest. All enjoyed wine and spiced hot apple cider, a Viennese dessert table and a chocolate fountain. Community member Lorri Taub, mistress of ceremonies, welcomed the crowd to a seventh year of Jewish Women’s Circle festivities. Chana Burston, director of the Jewish Women’s Circle, gave an introspective talk on “Miracles.” Burston then acknowledged the many individuals who helped sponsor the event and volunteered their time. Special recognition was given to Andrea Pincus of Washingtonville and Adria Gross of Monroe for leading the gala committee. Raffle prize winners include Adria Gross of Monroe, Shirley Pleeter of Chester and Debra Pearlman of Chester. The event was partly sponsored by Samira Galler, Sima Zelenko, Nadine Pulver, Stacey Finklestein, Andrea Pincus, Marie-Claire Chabat and Monroe ShopRite Florist. Zumba with a Jewish Twist Registration for the upcoming Jewish women’s event “Dancing with Faith-Zumba with a Jewish Twist,” is now open. All are invited to enjoy a night of Zumba dance infused with Jewish music with instructor Niomi Levine of Connecticut. Participants will engage in a discussion on faith in Judaism led by Chana Burston, and the evening will culminate with a Tu-Bishvat buffet. The event will be held on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 7:15 p.m. at Chabad’s Educational Center, located at 1170 Route 17M, in Chester. For more info and to RSVP, visit, email or call 782-2770.
