Counting the birds in our area

| 30 Sep 2011 | 08:44

Join Audubon’s annual Christmas bird count — venture outside with binoculars and a field guide with other local enthusiasts counting and identifying our winter birds. From now to Jan. 6, the Audubon Society, a partner agency with the DEC, will hold its 111th Annual Christmas Bird Count, the longest running citizen science survey across the country. Efforts of volunteers over 110 years have helped document an extensive database of bird population trends, used in a vast array of nationwide research and state and local conservation plans for the protection and conservation of birds.
