Chester — The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund (BACF) will host its first ever Casino Night to be held on Saturday, Nov. 20 at The Castle, in Chester. In addition to Vegas style gaming tables, music and entertainment will also be provided throughout the evening. Many local artisans and merchants have continued to support the fund, but additional sponsors are always needed and greatly appreciated. The cost for the event is $75 per person. Sign up early to receive extra “play money” which can be used to play at any of the tables or to purchase raffle tickets for the evening’s prizes. There will also be a Texas Hold’em Tournament held with a separate prize for the tournament winner. There are limited seats available for an additional $25. Casino night is a major fund raising event that enables the children’s fund to continue providing financial assistance to local families in need. Since inception in 1999, the BACF has distributed more than $700,000 to area families with seriously ill children or other significant hardships. This includes The Brian Ahearn Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to graduating seniors from the Warwick District who have overcome adversity in their lives. Thus far in 2010, the fund has contributed over $90,000 to the mission. The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund was founded in January of 1999, in memory of Brian, who was 14 when he passed away the previous August after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The kindness and support that Brian and his family received during his illness inspired the Children’s Fund and its mission.
