    ‘The Night Before Christmas Eve’ plays for one night in Monroe Monroe — Chester resident and popular entertainer Brett Boyd performs in Monroe for one night only, Thurs. Dec. 23, in “The Night Before Christmas Eve” show, featuring some of NYC’s top musicians. Special guests include Tedd Firth, Lodi Carr, Wayne Dunton and Bob Leive. The Holiday Jazz Show set for this evening The Dautaj Warwick - The Warwick Holiday Jazz Show begins at 8 p.m. this Friday evening, Dec. 17, at The Dautaj on 36 Oakland Ave. in Warwick. The program features Todd Williams on saxophone, Chris Persad on trumpet, with Joe Vincent Tranchina on piano, Warwick Valley Jazz Festival producer Steve Rubin on drums, Bill McCrossen on bass and introducing vocalist Mariel Larsen. ‘Sound of Christmas’ at Lycian Sugar Loaf — Kings Theatre Company will present “The Sound of Christmas,” with the Empire Brass Band, starring Elisabeth von Trapp, at the Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts in Sugar Loaf on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. Von Trapp, granddaughter of Maria and Baron von Trapp, joins the band in a holiday celebration highlighted by a medley from “The Sound of Music.” Five musicians make up the Empire Brass which performs music ranging from Bach and Handel to jazz and Broadway. For more information call 469-2287 or visit www.lyciancentre.com. ‘Festival of Lessons and Carols’ set for Dec. 19 Warwick - Christ Church, Jubilate and the Warwick Historical Society invite the community to “A Festival of Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m., at the Old School Baptist Meeting House, located at Church and High streets in Warwick. This celebration consists of nine Bible readings foretelling and announcing Christ’s birth, interspersed with traditional Christmas music. The Christ Church choir and Jubilate youth choir will perform. Based on the King’s College service held annually in Cambridge, England, since 1918, this is Christ Church’s fourteenth annual celebration (first time at this location) of this service, which lasts about an hour. Tickets for 2011 concerts at Bethel Woods now on sale Bethel - Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has scheduled its first concerts for 2011’s Event Gallery Concert Series. Dave Mason, a founding member of Traffic and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, will kick off the 2011 season with an Event Gallery performance on Friday, April 15. Reserved seats are $58 in advance, $63 at the door. Another 60s icon, Roger McGuinn, Grammy-nominee and co-founder of the Byrds, will appear on Friday, May 6. Tickets are $48 in advance, $53 at the door. Additionally, Celtic fiddler Eileen Ivers will mark her return to the room on Saturday, May 14. Tickets are $52 in advance, $57 at the door. SUNY Orange seeking art submissions for upcoming exhibit NEWBURGH -— SUNY Orange invites visual artists living or working in Orange County to submit works for “Illuminations,” a juried art exhibit scheduled for the spring that will serve as the debut show in the college’s new Newburgh campus art gallery. Prizes for first and second place will be awarded in two categories: works on canvas or paper, and sculpture. Artists are asked to mail CDs, photographs or prints of up to two pieces, as well as a résumé, brief biography and an application fee of $25 to the Cultural Affairs Office, SUNY Orange, Newburgh Campus, 5 Washington Center, Newburgh, NY 12550.
