TUXEDO — Rain greeted students arriving at George Grant Mason School in Tuxedo on Tuesday morning, but that didn’t damper their enthusiasm on their return to school after almost a 10-week break. “We had a strong start to the school year,” said GGM Principal Barbara Geoghan. “The students were excited to see each other and many of our students are interested in getting back to school. It was a busy day for us.” Special attention was given to students who may be grappling with the aftermath of area floods caused by Hurricane Irene last week, with officials looking forward to a productive year. The school is home to kindergarten through eighth-grade students. “Our students, teachers and staff are looking forward to a great 2011-2012 school year,” added Geoghan. - Nancy Kriz
