M-W swimmers capture fifth in state 200-yard medley relay final

BUFFALO Entering last weekends New York State swimming and diving championships at Erie Community College in Buffalo, the Monroe-Woodbury Boys High School 200 Yard Medley Relay team was ranked 26th in the state.
But then Greg Byrne (back stroke) Jack Jakubek (breast stroke), Jared Charleston butterfly) and Dallan Treanor (freestyle) got back in the pool.
With a preliminary time of 1:37.99, the team moved up 19 places and into the championship final, placing fifth in the state Public High School Athletic Association Championships.
The swim team finished 13th in the New York State Public School team standings.
