Deadline to apply for a post on the Woodbury Village ZBA is today Highland Mills - The Woodbury Village Board is seeking letters of interest from residents that may be interested in serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA meets once per month and the volunteer will receive an annual stipend of $300. Woodbury Village Clerk Desiree Potvin said letters should be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and mailed or delivered to the Town Clerk’s Office at 511 Route 32, PO Box 1004, Highland Mills, NY, 10930 or e-mailed to woodburyvillage@yahoo.com. Include a telephone number in the letter. Today also is the deadline for teens to volunteer for Monroe library’s summer reading program Monroe - Today, Friday, June 3, is the last day that applications will be accepted from teenagers who want to volunteer this year in the Monroe Free Library’s popular Summer Reading Program. Applications must be filled out in full and signed by both the teenage applicant and a parent (or guardian). Positions are open to library cardholders entering grades 6-12. Teen volunteers earn hours toward their Monroe-Woodbury comprehensive diploma. Some teens interact with the children that participate in the program, but there are also positions for teens who prefer administrative tasks (handling paperwork, making phone calls, and sorting and shelving books). In 2010, the library had to cut the number of teens who staff the program by nearly a third (from one hundred to under seventy) because of a lack of space. Contact the library at 783-4411. Still time to comment on Round Lake development proposal Monroe - The Town of Monroe has extended the public scoping meeting on the proposal to build a house in the middle of Round Lake as well as a driveway connecting the island with the mainland. The public has another opportunity to provide comments (in writing or verbally) at the Town Board meeting on Monday, June 6, at the Monroe Senior Center on Mine Road.
