Monroe Girl Scouts take part in the launch of centennial celebration activities

FISHKILL Members of the Monroe Girl Scout Service Unit took part in last Saturday’s celebration to kickoff the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts USA at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill. Approximately 4,000 Girl Scouts, leaders and volunteers attended the celebration which featured singing, music and performances by Girl Scouts focusing on themes important to the Girl Scout organization. The event also included speakers and a service unit banner parade led by a bag pipe band. Local activities to commemorate the centennial of Girl Scouts will continue through the end of 2012.
