Warwick native and architect Chris Mansfield in Hudson Valley Top 40 Under 40
Architect Chris Mansfield, who was raised in Warwick and graduated from Warwick Valley High School in the class of 2009, just became a member of an exclusive club.
Mansfield, who holds a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. and who serves as director of Visualization and Technology at Tinkelman Architecture, in Poughkeepsie, was just selected to receive a prestigious 2019 40 Under 40 Award.
The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce recognizes a talented and diverse group of young professionals in the Hudson Valley as the top 40 Under 40.
The "Mover and Shaker" awards are presented annually to 40 people under the age of 40 who have shown a strong commitment to the Hudson Valley.
Mansfield was described as a driven architectural designer and a pioneer of the use of virtual reality in the world of architecture, who passionately engages in innovative building design.
His design work has been recognized and showcased at the American Institute of Architects "It Takes Community," Greenbuild 2016, and the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
"Receiving a 40 Under 40 Award means more to me than I can put to words," mansfield said. "I am both honored and humbled to have such an opportunity."
Mansfield is especially proud of his work to design, fund, and build a non-profit community center serving underprivileged children in La Villa de San Francisco, Honduras.
"Ideally, 10 years from now, I would like to have used my design skills to help create an even better built environment in the Hudson Valley, and leave a positive lasting impact on our community," he said. "Having grown up in the Hudson Valley, I have experienced a lifetime of support and guidance from my community. I feel honored to have the opportunity give back."
